Speech-Language Pathologist
Allison is a native of Raleigh, NC. She graduated Magna Cum Laude from North Carolina State University with a B.A. in Communication Disorders and a minor in Spanish. Allison received her M.A. degree in Speech- Language Pathology from the University of North Carolina-Greensboro. While completing her Masters degree, Allison received specialized training with Language! The Comprehensive Literacy Curriculum, a structured and integrated approach to literacy instruction. She has a particular interest in language and early literacy skills, including phonological/phonemic awareness. Allison has worked in many different settings including rehabilitation, public school, natural environment, and hospital. Her clinical experience includes work with children with Developmental Delays, Feeding/Oral Motor Disorders, Down Syndrome, Autism, Apraxia, Language-Based Literacy Disorders, Fluency Disorders, and Articulation/Phonological Disorders. She has received training in Feeding assessment/intervention, Autism Spectrum Disorders, The Floortime Method, Beckman Oral Motor Assessment and Intervention, basic sign language, and the Picture Exchange Communication System. Allison also has experience in evaluating and treating Spanish speaking children with speech and language delays/disorders in their native language. Allison enjoys working with family members and other disciplines to help the child achieve his/her goals and experience carryover into daily routines. She is an active member of the Wake County Local Interagency Coordinating Council, which promotes coordinated and effective Early Intervention in Wake County. Allison licensed by the board of North Carolina and holds a Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology from the American Speech Language Hearing Association.
