Occupational Therapist
Maria received her B.S. degree in Occupational Therapy from York College, City University of New York. She is a native of Puerto Rico and is completely fluent in Spanish as well as conversationally fluent in Greek. Maria has been practicing in the field of pediatrics for the past 16 years, working in outpatient and community based situations. Her areas of interest and experience in the pediatric population include newborn to school age children with Learning Disabilities, children who are Failure to Thrive, Autism Spectrum Disorders, ADD/ADHD, Mental Retardation, Cerebal Palsy, Hemiplegia, Hemiparesis, and other orthopedic and neurological disorders. Maria also has extensive training and experience with Sensory Processing Disorders, Handwriting Without Tears, Visual Perception Retraining, splinting, wheel chair seating and positioning, and other adaptive equipment needs. She enjoys working with families to provide training in the natural environment.
