Speech-Language Pathologist

Michelle received her Bachelor of Science in Community Psychology and then her Master of Science in Speech Language Pathology from Nova Southeastern University in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida. She has over 16 years of experience providing home, center and school based evaluations and therapy to children from birth through adolescence as well as with developmentally disabled adults. She holds a Certificate of Clinical Competence from the American Speech-Language Hearing Association and is licensed by the North Carolina State Board for Speech-Language Pathologists and Audiologists. Michelle enjoys working as part of a multi-disciplinary team incorporating goals and objectives from occupational therapists, physical therapists, psychologists, teachers and parents. Michelle has taken training courses in the following areas: Bobath NDT Handling, Greenspan "Floortime", Hanen cycles approach to phonological remediation, Kaufman Apraxia Program. She has experience with children on the autism spectrum and with sensory processing and feeding difficulties. She is a strong believer that parents are a child's best teacher and enjoys using therapy approaches that empower and train parents to carryover learning from therapy into the family's everyday activities. Michelle has been married for 13 years, and spends her free time reading, scrapbooking and being "dance mom" for her 11 year old daughter.
