Speech-Language Pathologist

Renee is a native of Enfield NC, but currently resides in Wake Forest NC. She graduated from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill with a B.A. in Music Performance. She decided to pursue a career as a speech-language pathologist after volunteering at Pitt Memorial Hospital in which she discovered a connection between skills she acquired as a musician and therapeutic techniques used during speech therapy with patients suffering from CVA and TBI. Renee received her M.Ed. degree in Speech Language Pathology from North Carolina Central University. While completing her Master's degree, Renee presented at the North Carolina Speech Language and Hearing Convention in Asheville and the National Black Association of Speech Language and Hearing Convention in Washington DC on the "Use of Woodwind Mouthpiece to Improve Oral Motor Skills in Individuals with Mild to Moderate Dysarthria." Renee has worked within a variety of settings including hospitals, preschools, public schools, rehabilitation centers, and natural environments. Her clinical experience includes working with children with Developmental Delays, Autism, Articulation/Phonological Disorders, basic sign language, Augmentative Communication Devices, Down Syndrome, Apraxia, Oral Motor Disorders, and Fluency Disorders. Renee is currently licensed by the board of North Carolina and holds a Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology from the American Speech Language Hearing Association.
