Speech-Language Pathologist

Sarah graduated from North Carolina State University with a B.A. in Communication Disorders and a minor in Spanish.  Then Sarah received her M.S. degree in Speech-Language Pathology from East Carolina University.  While in graduate school, Sarah worked with the Scottish Rite Childhood Language Disorders and Dyslexia Program.  She has worked in a variety of settings including clinics, daycares, private practice, acute care, and outpatient care. Sarah has worked with a variety of populations including childhood apraxia of speech, Asperger's/PDD/Autistic Spectrum disorders, cerebral palsy, down syndrome, trisomy 13- partial, various genetic disorders, stuttering, dysphagia - adult and pediatric, speech/ language delays, and articulation/ phonological disorders. She also has experience with Augmentative/Alternative Communication Devices as well as with the Picture Exchange Communication System (PECS).  She has worked with hearing impaired and cochlear implant patients as well as with children who have feeding/oral motor issues.  Sarah is certified in Beckman Oral Motor and has had much experience with this.  Sarah is in the process of becoming Infant Toddler Certified and A/V certified for children with hearing aids or cochlear implants. Sarah is experienced in evaluating and treating Spanish Speaking clients.  She is an active member of the Wake County LICC (Local interagency coordinating council) that addresses issues/needs for children with special needs in our community. Sarah is licensed by the board of North Carolina and holds a Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology from the American Speech Language Hearing Association.
