Testimonial:

My experience with RTS has been nothing but amazing! With a therapist like Kaitlyn who has a passion for what she does, she treats you like you’re her family. The growth my son has achieved with her is demonstrated everyday as his speech and communication abilities continue to improve more and more. We experienced another therapist prior with another company that did not work out, so I was very cautious when Kaitlyn began to see my son. I was blown away after just the first visit. She was professional, prepared and immediately picked up on my son’s interests to use that as a part of her development plan for him. Kaitlyn has been a blessing to not only my son but our family. I’m so thankful for her unwavering dedication to my son and her desire to see him achieve his goals! He loves her to pieces, she is the highlight of his day whenever she comes! Watching them interact with each other touches my heart and I am forever thankful to her. I know I made the right choice selecting Kaitlyn and RTS!

Bio:

Kaitlyn grew up in Massachusetts. She graduated Summa Cum Laude from the University of New Hampshire with a Bachelor of Science in Communication Sciences and Disorders and a minor in Deaf and Hard of Hearing Studies. Kaitlyn then moved to North Carolina to pursue her Masters degree in Speech and Hearing Sciences from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Following graduation she completed her clinical fellowship working with adult and geriatric patients in a variety of settings including: an acute care hospital, short-term rehabilitation, and a skilled nursing facility. Following her fellowship year she started working with pediatrics, which is where she found her true passion.

Kaitlyn has had a great deal of experience working with children who have profound intellectual disabilities as well as medical fragility in both the home and school setting. Her clinical experience also includes working with children who have congenital disorders, traumatic or anoxic brain injuries, hearing loss, tracheostomies, and various genetic and neurological disorders impacting communication and swallowing skills. Kaitlyn has worked with low-tech and paper-based alternative and augmentative communication (AAC) systems for children who are nonverbal. She has a particular interest in working with children with feeding disorders, especially working to transition from feeding tube to oral feedings and decreasing oral aversions to increase oral acceptance. Kaitlyn is a Certified Lactation Counselor® (CLC.  This certification is the premier National Certification in Lactation Management in the United States. Kaitlyn enjoys collaborating with family members and caregivers to promote carry over of skills learned in therapy to the home environment.
