Natalia grew up in Virginia, however moved to North Carolina her freshman year of high school. Natalia’s family is from Dominican Republic and she grew up speaking both English and Spanish. Natalia’s commitment to working with the pediatric population specifically and assisting in children’s development stems from a personal place. Her younger brother has Down Syndrome; watching the gains and strides he made in his language and oral motor skills during his speech therapy sessions fueled her desire to venture down the path of becoming a speech language pathologist herself.

Natalia graduated from North Carolina State University with a Bachelors of Arts in Communications Disorders. She then went on to North Carolina Central University and graduated Magna Cum Laude with a Masters of Education in Speech-Language Pathology.

Natalia’s clinical experience includes working in the public school system, hospitals, and rehabilitation facilities with both the pediatric and geriatric populations. She has worked with children with diagnoses such as genetic syndromes, Autism Spectrum Disorders, Down Syndrome, and Developmental Delays. She has had significant amount of training and practice in utilizing Spanish to evaluate and treat children with communication disorders, including articulation, receptive/expressive language, and fluency disorders. Natalia has a considerable amount of involvement in conferences and volunteer work, including attendance at conferences for American Speech Language Hearing Association and state conferences, which have facilitated her enthusiasm for working with the early intervention population and within the pediatric field. Natalia enjoys working closely and collaborating with other professionals and parents in the home, daycare, and/or preschool environments to maximize efficient therapy and in turn, enhancing children’s speech and language skills across a variety of settings. Natalia is licensed by the board of North Carolina and holds a Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology from the American Speech Language Hearing Association.

Mi nombre es Natalia Gómez. Soy egresada de North Carolina State University con un B. A. en Comunicación. Recientemente me gradué Magna Cum Laude de North Carolina Central University con un M. Ed. en Patología del Habla y del Lenguaje.

Con respeto a mi experiencia, además de clínica, incluye el trabajo en escuelas públicas, hospitales y centros de rehabilitación, particularmente en las áreas pediátricas y geriátricas. He trabajado con niños con desórdenes genéticos diversos, incluyendo autismo, síndrome de Down y desórdenes de desarrollo.

Como mi familia es de República Dominicana crecí hablando ambos idiomas, inglés y español en la casa; por lo tanto, durante mis experiencias clínicas tuve una considerable formación y práctica utilizando el idioma español en mis evaluaciones y terapias.

La instrucción, investigación, participación en conferencias y trabajo voluntario, ha provocado mi pasión por la intervención temprana con la población infantil. Personalmente, me gusta trabajar y colaborar con otros profesionales y padres para optimizar las terapias y aumentar la habilidad del habla y lenguaje de los niños.
